The New England Collection collection is compiled of both current and older literature, which illustrates and interprets the New England area and its people to children and young adults in the present and past. This collection is designed to: 1) preserve older materials written for children of all ages which reflect attitudes, and mores of past generations of New Englanders. 2) collect new materials which reflect attitudes and mores of present generations of New Englanders within the context of New England. 3) collect the literary and artistic contributions of children's authors and illustrators working within New England with New England as a particular topic or theme of their work. 4) provide a browsing and, whenever possible, a circulating collection where children and their parents and educators may discover materials directly relating to the human and natural environment of New England.
